The Computer Bus
The Project
The Award winning Computer Bus is a project run by Scottish Borders Library Service. We give FREE introductory computer training to people living in the Scottish Borders who would not otherwise be able to access it. In particular, we deliver training to those living in small villages with little or no public transport.
The Bus
The computer bus itself, is a vehicle like a mobile library. It has six workstations, and gets its Internet connection through a satellite dish on the roof.
The Web Site
Here you can find general information about the Computer Bus project. We have an outline of the sort of training we do, an outline of where we deliver training, information on how you can contact us and links to other learning organisations and to a range of FREE online learning resources. We hope you enjoy them.
Award Winning
In 2004 the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities gave the Computer Bus a COSLA Excellence Award, for excellence in public service delivery. We were delighted at this formal recognition of the approach we have taken, and since then have continued to develop our courses using the same philosophy.
